Issues with measuring the input bandwidth of a Moku:Go using the Frequency Response Analyzer

This article details issues with using the Moku:Go's FRA to measure its own input bandwidth

The range of frequencies over which a device can reliably operate is commonly referred to as its bandwidth. The input bandwidth of a device, like an oscilloscope, describes the range of frequencies it can measure until the measured signal is attenuated by -3dB from its original magnitude.

There are a few different factors that can change the perceived input bandwidth of a device such as the load impedance and output bandwidth of the Function Generator being used to test the device's bandwidth. The Moku:Go's input impedance is 1MΩ, which when coupled to the Moku:Go's output that has an impedance of 200Ω, reduces the output bandwidth of the swept sine wave.

The Moku:Go's output bandwidth is 20MHz for the sine wave generator. When coupled with the 30MHz input bandwidth of the Moku:Go, it reduces the measured bandwidth of the device when viewing it in the Bode plot of the FRA. 

To get an accurate measurement of the input bandwidth, a Function Generator with an output bandwidth of 30MHz or greater is required to measure the full input frequency range of the Moku:Go.
